Teacher KateKATERINA SHETLIFFE is a natural performer and teacher with over 10 years experience in both fields. We have great pleasure in welcoming her also to Exeter and sharing her extensive musical skills with our many customers.
Originally from Moscow and having music teachers as parents, Kate’s interest in music and the piano began at an early age. Naturally gifted, she started playing at six years old and continued her studies at the Tula College of Music, Russia, where she graduated as a concert pianist in 1999.
As well as teaching, Kate has also performed as an accompanist and as a concert pianist in Russia, Sweden and here in the UK. She has been teaching piano and music theory for over 10 years, both privately and at music schools.
With her very special ability to bring out the best in all of her pupils, she has gained extensive experience of training the younger pianist through various workshops and activities, using renowned teaching methods utilised by well-established Russian piano schools. She has also obtained UK qualifications ATCL in Piano Performing, Dip ABRSM in Instrumental Teaching and is fully DBS checked.
KATE’S LESSONS are held every half an hour, here in our teaching studio:
Saturdays from 9am until 4pm

Polina Shifrina, Pianist, Exeter, UKMy name is Polina Shifrina.
I am a professional pianist, accompanist and piano teacher, born in Russia in a musical family. I give classical concerts as well as work as a piano teacher.
Surrounded by pianists and piano music since my birth, I myself started studying the piano at five years of age, with my mother as my main teacher and mentor, who was a student of Maria Eshenko and Samuel Feinberg.
I studied in the Conservatory in Vladimir (Russia) under Jouri Popov, who was the soloist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Vladimir and Elena Melnikova.
Later I continued my studies in the Conservatory of Music “Richard-Strauss”in Munich (Germany). In those years I perfectioned under the mentoring of the concert pianist Amir Katz and gave regular concerts in the main concerts halls of Munich like GasteigPrinzregenten Theater and Cuvilliéstheater.
In 2006 I moved to Berlin (Germany) where I continued my pianistic and teaching career, together with completing my studies in Physics at the Free University of Berlin.
Since 2011 I have lived in Exeter where I give concerts, teach piano and learn foreign languages. I can also help you with your exam preparation for ABRSM or Trinity Grade 1 – 8.
I speak four languages (English, Russian, German and Italian) – so you can choose.
Polinas lessons are held week-days here in our teaching studio.
