WORLD FAMOUS BURGH ISLAND HOTEL TAKES DELIVERY OF TWO NEW WHITE GRAND PIANOS During the summer of 2008 we were contacted by Tony Orchard, the owner of the recently refurbished Burgh Island Hotel, Devon, as a new baby grand piano in white was required for the Peacock bar, one of the main entertainment rooms within the hotel. Following various discussions and research on our part, it was eventually decided that the perfect instrument for the stunning art-deco hotel would be the Challen 142 baby grand piano. Challen pianos have in fact been manufactured since the late 1930’s and fit well into this style of environment. They also sound wonderful! And then in 2009 we installed a second, larger Steinbach 'six footer' into the amazing ballroom, which again blends in perfectly and provides an even fuller sound to another one of the most important entertainment rooms within the hotel. The deliveries of both pianos to the island proved rather interesting, as they had to coincide with the tide table, but they arrived safely all the same, thanks to our expert delivery team and look superb in their splendid new homes.
